Private Dance Movement Therapy/ Supervision

Alex provides DMT for adults, teens and children or families.  Private practice can be provided in Darwin, Palmerston or a nature-assisted option in Humpty Doo NT.

In a private session we work together towards therapeutic goals established between therapist and client/ family.

The sessions are tailored to suit individual needs and generally include:

  • Arrival and warmup time

  • Somatic practices supporting body awareness

  • Exploration of a theme through mixed creative arts practices including dance, drawing and writing, supported by music and props such as scarves, balls and other sensory objects.

  • Harvesting, integration and reflection and setting goals for stepping back out into the world; this may include counselling and psychoeducation.

My work is currently still accessible under NDIS, and are set at the equivalent rate to other creative arts therapies and counselling of $150/ hour

Other private sessions will be billed on a means-based scale between $80 – $160 per hour.

I also offer private supervision for other Dance Movement Therapists in training.

Trauma Informed practices and Therapeutic Conversations for Communities or Workplaces

Alex offers training and support in the field of trauma-informed practices within both the health and education sectors.  She can offer tailored workshops, resources or training to suit your needs;  Alex’s work focuses on the somatic, and combines psychoeducation with experiential exercises which support all participants to develop an intuitive understanding of self-regulation and co-regulation in a range of settings.  Workshops can include a focus on self-care and vicarious trauma.

Alex can also support a process of workplace auditing and action planning for organisations willing to move towards a more integrated trauma-informed approach.  Rather than starting from scratch Alex works with those already trained and passionate about TIC within workplaces and builds on existing training and expertise within the org.

These workshops are also suitable for community groups/ people who have experienced and are interested in learning more about trauma. Alex has worked in a wide range of cross-cultural communities and has experience in facilitating conversations around trauma and approaches to healing and recovery from trauma in a range of settings.
